BYE
BYE JEFF |
|
|
I'm
afraid it's a case of Jeff RIP...Steven Moffat posted this info on
the BBC America website on Nov 3, 2003.
"Okay. You keep asking. Here it is. As you've pretty well all
guessed, Jeff won't be in the 4th season.
I'm no longer in direct touch with Richard, so I can't vouch for his
reasons. At the time of shooting the third season he seemed keen to
return for a fourth (I always check in case I have to write anyone
out) and that's why there was no Goodbye Jeff episode in the last
run.
Sadly, although we have been trying very hard to persuade him, he's
not keen to return and shoot a farewell for us. It's taken months
of (unsuccessful) pleading on our part, which is why I haven't been
saying a lot on the subject.
I really enjoyed working with Richard, who is an immensely talented
actor, and I'm sorry it couldn't have ended on a happier note.
Okay. The good news.
There will be new character - Oliver, Jane's worst possible blind
date - and I'm having whale of a time writing him. I miss Jeff but
it's invigorating to have a new wind blowing through the show.
We've just cast someone we think is going to be wonderful. And after
you've all got tired of wearing your black armbands, I think you might
think he's wonderful too.
So don't write us off just yet, okay?
To be honest, it's kind of nice for everything to be a Big Scary Risk
again.
Steven Moffat"

ROLE FILMING NOW! and COUPLING SERIES 2 ON US DVD |
|
|
US
FANS
Series Two of Coupling is now available on the amazon
site as a pre-order for $24.49. It is scheduled on there to be released
on October 28th 2003.
NEW ROLE!
'Gunpowder, Treason and Plot'
Filming has begun in Bucharest on a major BBC drama about Mary Queen
Of Scots, James I and the Gunpowder Plot.
Titled 'Gunpowder, Treason and Plot', it also features Kevin McKidd,
Emilia Fox, Tim McInnerney, Catherine McCormack, Richard Coyle, Daniella
Nardini and Paul Nicholls.
Filmed on location in Romania, it tells of Mary's short-lived reign
and the battles she had to fight with her Protestant subjects and
the English Queen, Elizabeth I (McCormack).
Gunpowder, Treason And Plot tells of Mary's battle with Elizabeth
I and execution as well as her alleged plot to kill her villainous
husband Lord Darnley. The story moves on to her son James I and the
plot by Guy Fawkes to end his reign by blowing up Parliament.
Richard is playing the part of Robert Catesby. Here's some info on
his character:
Robert Catesby: 31 years old.
As a man, Robert Catesby, in spite of his religious inclinations,
was rich in friends and patrimony, loved and esteemed not only by
catholics but by the very protestants for his many unusual qualities
both physical and mental, and was part of the glamorous circle that
surrounded the court, although in his youth he "was very wild,
and ...he spent much above his rate". Father Oswald Tesimond,
who knew him well, describes him thus: "Physically, Catesby was
more than ordinarily well-proportioned, some six feet tall, of good
carriage and handsome countenance. He was grave in manner, but attractively
so. He was considered one of the most dashing and courageous horsemen
in the country. Generous and affable, he was for that reason much
loved by everyone. Catesby possessed a wild and reckless nature and
was a popular man. He was known as a good swordsman and was a part
of elite court circles. Catesby's house in Lambeth was first headquarters
of the plot and was used for the initial storage of powder. He was
the originator of plot. His mother's 1st cousin (Elizabeth) was wife
of Sir Walter Raleigh. Robert Catesby was killed at the shoot out
at Holbeach House Nov. 8 1605 along with Thomas Percy (with the same
bullet). While professing dedication to God and Church to the end
Catesby was primarily a leader of a Catholic political elite which
was equally dedicated to obtaining wealth and power through the defeat
of the King, the Government and the State Church. (His body was buried
at Holbeach but was later dug up and his head brought to Westminster
for display). |

COUPLING
SERIES 4 UPDATE and UNMISSABLE COMPETITION! |
|
|
Over
on the BBC America website - Steven Moffat has been answering a few
questions about the forthcoming series...which sounds like it's in
the works writing-wise so put those hankies away. When asked about
Richard's involvement in the series 4 he had this to say:
"Already explained I can't talk about that, one way or the other.
Nothing to be read into that - it's just that negotiations are proceeding
and there can't be a sideshow.
But, hey, suppose we did lose a cast member. It would be sad and awful.
I'd hate it. And I'd write a new character, and write them funny lines
and we'd find someone funny to say them.
And maybe it would work and maybe it wouldn't.
But please, don't bet against us. At least not straight away."
So, you know, garner from that what you will.
